Volleyball Rules!
Volleyball Rules
- There are always just six players on the field: three in the front row and three in the back row.
- The winning team in the rally receives points on each serve (rally-point scoring).
- Players are not permitted to strike the ball twice in a row (a block is not regarded as a hit).
- On a serve as well as during a volley, the ball may be played off the net.
- When a ball crosses a goal line, it is in.
- The referee stand or pole, any net or cables outside the antennae, any antennae, the floor entirely outside the court, the ceiling above a non-playable area, or an antennae count as outs.
- Any portion of a player's body may make contact with the ball.
- The ball may not be caught, held, or thrown.
- A serve from on or inside the 10-foot line cannot be defended against or countered.
- Front-line athletes may move around the net after the serve.
- The number of sets in a match depends on the difficulty of the game.
Volleyball Rules
- When serving, crossing the service line or stepping on it while the ball is in play.
- Failure to successfully serve the ball over the net.
- Errors in ball handling and illegal ball contact (double touching, lifting, carrying, throwing, etc.)
- Any part of the body touching the net while the ball is in play.
- If your opponent has not used 3 contacts AND has a player there to make a play on the ball, blocking a ball coming from your opponent's court and making contact with the ball whilst reaching over the net.
- Reaching over the net to attack a ball coming from the other team's court and making contact with it when the ball hasn't yet broken the net's vertical plane.
- Using any part of your body, other a hand or foot, to cross the court's centerline. Only when the full hand or foot crosses the court centerline is it deemed to be a violation.
- Serving inconsistently or out of succession.
- When a back row player is close to the net and has a portion of their body above the top of the net at the time of contact, they are blocking (deflecting) a ball coming from the opposition. This block is unconstitutional.
- Back row player attempting to make contact with a ball that is entirely above the net in the front zone (the area inside the 3M/10-foot line). This assault is against the law.
